What happens if I need to miss a class?

If a teen needs to miss classroom time, it will have to be approved by our office first. Then we will make arrangements for you to make up your missed time.

Virtual Driver Ed Class

When will I complete my eye exam?

Eye exams for our virtual classes are scheduled once the class begins. We will reach out by email/text to inform you of the date and time for the eye exam. If you are unable to make it to the in-person eye exam, you will need to reschedule for our next in-person eye exam or take a form DL-77 to your eye doctor and have them do your exam.

How long does it take to complete the virtual program?

The state requires 30 hours of classroom time for anyone under 18 years old. This is typically broken down into ten 3 hour Zoom sessions. The 6 hour drive time will be scheduled after classroom time is complete.

Policies

What is your refund policy?

A $100 Administration fee will be applied to all approved refunds. The school will not refund any tuition monies or any part thereof when actual services have been rendered.

What is a Driver's Eligibility Certificate and how do I get one?

A Drivers Eligibility Certificate is the state's way of proving you are enrolled in school and on a pathway to graduation. You will take your Drivers Education Completion Certificate (you receive this on your 3rd day of driving) to your high school to prove you've completed Drivers Education. They will give you the Drivers Eligibility Certificate. If you are a homeschooler, you will log into your homeschool account with the Department of Non-Public Education and order your Drivers Eligibility Certificate from your portal.

Do teens need a permit to start classes?

No, you can't go to the DMV to test for your permit until you've completed the 30 hours of classroom time and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel time.

When can I start drivers ed?

Teens are able to begin drivers education at 14 years and 6 months old.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

Yes, we charge a $100 fee for no-shows and late cancellations with less than 48 hour notice. This is because we have to confirm our instructor's schedules in advance and we have to pay them for their time even if you don't show up.

Behind-the-wheel

When can I start behind-the-wheel lessons?

Teens can begin their behind-the-wheel time once they've completed the 30 hours of classroom time and passed the eye exam.

Adults can begin behind-the-wheel training once they have obtained a valid learner's permit or license.

What is a restricted instruction permit?

​This document verifies that a student's vision and medical condition are approved by a representative of the NC Division of Motor Vehicles or a certified driver education instructor. It authorizes the student to operate a motor vehicle with their driving education instructor to complete the required six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. This is for students under 18 years old.

Can the parent or guardian ride along with the student?

Absolutely, parents or guardians are welcome to ride along as long as they observe and refrain from instructing from the back seat.

Does the class have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel?

No. Drive time can't begin until you've passed the in-class eye exam. Each student must drive for three days, two hours at a time. You can't schedule your third driving lesson until your classroom time is complete.

Does my teen need to be on my insurance before their behind-the-wheel time?

No, you don't have to add your teen to your insurance until they go to get their level 2 permit.

Can I use my own car?

No, we only train in our company vehicles. Our vehicles are certified by the NCDMV.

Are your instructors licensed?

Yes! All of our instructors are licensed through the NCDMV.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?

You must reach out to cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to avoid the rescheduling fee.

Will I have other students in the car with me?

No, we have found that one student and one instructor is the best ratio for teaching our students.
