Getting Your NC Driver Education Instructor License

North Carolina requires instructor applicants to pass a specialized written knowledge test, road test, and a ride-along evaluation to be licensed as a driver's education instructor. We provide paid training and study sessions to help you prepare for the instructor exam, road test, and evaluation. Once you are licensed, no more testing! Your license is renewed each year, and there are no additional testing requirements to meet for the renewal.

Qualifications

No experience is necessary. We are happy to train the right candidate!

Previous experience as an instructor is a plus but is not required, we provide paid training. You will work under the supervision of an experienced instructor until you are ready to solo.

All applicants must:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 21years old
  • Hold a valid NC driver's license
  • Successfully complete a background check
  • Possess great communication skills
  • Maintain a professional appearance with a friendly and patient attitude
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Have availability after school, on weekends, and on school breaks
